A Graceful Maiden's Memoir

Back on Schedule

These days since I've come back from camp have been nice. I've mainly relaxed, slept in late, and read a lot. While it has been refreshing, I feel the urge to get back on schedule.

It's been nice to just do mostly what I want throughout the day. I've still cleaned and cooked, yet not as much as would be good, and mostly only whenever I've felt like it. And while sleeping in later has felt wonderful, it also seems to make me more tired and irritable. I've also had a harder time going to bed at night, before it's really late.

So, I'm going to try to establish a routine again. A certain time to sleep and a time to rise, and once again try to stick with it. I'm also going to try to plan out my days, with certain things to accomplish, and a rough draft of what times to do things. It will be a bit more relaxed schedule, sing it is summer for a little while longer, but it shall hopefully help me stay more focused. I have found that lack of something planned often ends up with my getting on the computer and wiling time away surfing the net. Doing that doesn't get much done!

I know that my schedule won't always work, although I'd like it to! I have a hard time when my plans don't work out, but I need to remember what Proverbs 16:9 says: "In his heart a man plans his course, but the LORD determines his steps." I need to be interruptible in my plans sometimes, for God might have something better that He's planned for me to do.

So, in the days ahead I hopefully shall spend more time doing worthwhile things, and trying to follow the old adage, "Early to be, early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise." =)

"Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and your plans will succeed." - Proverbs 16:3

Hello Anna! I understand what you mean!! Since i have been so busy with guest, vacation and sickness (sigh) my life has been so different! I do not like sleeping in because I feel my whole day is wasted. I can't read for more than 20 min because I feel lazy. I need to get back to my schedule! it's so nice to have you back! I really missed you while you were gone!
    Love,

I feel the same way about sleeping in, Ashley! I try to get up at 6 o'clock every morning, and go to bed at 9.
Yes, not having much to do in a day is nice for a while, but then you start feeling like you aren't very intelligent (at least it makes me feel that way!). Since I started school back, I've felt a diligence I haven't before. But it also makes me feel like I've had a productive day and spent my time wisely.
I'm not saying start your school back, Anna. :) Just once I got started, I couldn't stop talking about it.

I do know what you mean, Ashley and Miriam. I'll probably be starting school back soon, as soon as I figure out what I'm doing. It's going to be kinda busy with Elijah and Lydia both going to college soon. Something about school does make you feel like you did at least something! =)

    Anna,

I was just reading about your dance camp! it sounds wonderful! I understand how you felt when you were placed in a low level! I am also in a low level at our dance school , i was very mad at the thought of dancing with girls who were 6-8! But I asked to god to help me do my best knowmatter what level I was in. I worked very hard and was able to move into level 2! So when I begin dance in the fall I will be in level three! It was an amazing year but God helped me! Now back on schedule!

I would love to see a sample of your "daily schedule"! Also, your school schedule would be nice too!
(I'm sure you don't stick to your schedules religiously, but I still like to see how other people spend their days! :-))

It would really be nice if all us "anonymouses" could identify ourselves so Anna will know who in the world is writing! For example, who posted the questions about schedules that appear right before this comment?

Thank you, Mrs. Lavonne, for saying that. I was just about to ask the same thing! I don't mind answering questions, but I prefer to know the name of those who are asking. So please, either use the "other" option to comment and put your name there, or sign your name at the end of your comment if you're using anonymous. Thanks!

I find it harder to adhere to a schedule during the summer months. While it is nice to sleep in and read a lot, I find myself not doing chores and wiling away my time. I need to get better!

Oh, when do you all go to bed? Do you have a set time? I go to bed at 9 o'clock.I struggle with that at times. I mean, I am sixteen, and some kids go to bed later. Yet, Mom and Dad have my best interests at heart.

Mom and dad don't have a set time for us to go to bed. We're allowed to whenever. They encourage us to get enough rest, but we're allowed to make my own decisions. Sometimes that makes it harder, since we can stay up if we want, and sometimes that means we don't get as much rest as we should. It is good for teaching ourselves discipline, however.

I try to head to bed around 9 p.m., yet it's usually 9:30 or 10 p.m. by the time I actually turn the lights out. The rest of my family is usually goes to bed between 9:30 or 10 p.m. I'm a night owl at heart... but I'm trying, and I hope to go to bed around 9 p.m. and get up at 6 a.m. as often as is possible. I did it today, and I accomplish a lot when I do!

I am sorry, I am the one who left the comment about the schedules! I don't like to use my real name, so a "fake" one will have to do!

    Hi charity grace,
It's ok if you don't post your real name. Just share as much of your life as you feel comfortable. I rather like the name "charity grace" :)
How did you discover Anna's blog?

I'm such a night owl, I just love staying up late too much.
I enjoy schedules, but rnow I'm trying to find a happy-medium because in that past I've tried rigid schedules and they just don't work. So then I'll go totally schedule free, and I don't like that either.
    Any suggestions?
    =)

It's fun to hear how all of you found my blog! Charity Grace, welcome! I don't mind if you don't use your real name, I just wanted to be able to call you something other than "anonymous". Maybe sometime I'll post about a day in my life...

Kelsa, finding the happy medium is hard for me too! I've been on the rigid, every-minute-is-planned schedules that just don't work, and then have had no schedule at all which doesn't accomplish much. I basically just try to have a rough plan of my day, what I want to get done, and a rough plan of what I hope to do each hour, and try to stick to it. The medium IS hard to find.
